After a five-year short service commission in the Royal Navy, John opted for a career with IBM, where he was a Director for twelve years. His senior management experience included Large Systems Product Director for EMEA, with responsibility for marketing strategy through the most challenging period of competitive attack from Hitachi and Fujitsu.

In his final four years in IBM he served on the main board of the UK Company as Commercial Director – primarily as 'trouble-shooter' on major IT projects with sign-off responsibility for major contracts. He has extensive multi-national experience – three years in the USA and four in France (at IBM's European Headquarters).

John has a proven success record across a wide range of disciplines; including sales and marketing, commercial risk analysis / trouble-shooting, and critical contract negotiations.

On leaving IBM, John was appointed to the main board of Spring Group plc where, in the late nineties, he served as Chief Operating Officer during a period of rapid and profitable growth.

Currently John has several board appointments and is retained by the Forensic Science Service as Commercial Advisor to the Main Board (previously a Non-executive Director).

He became Chairman of Skyguard Technologies Ltd in March 2008, having been a Non-executive Director since the summer of 2005.

David has over 20 years of experience running and developing successful technology companies.

Initially trained in industrial relations at Shell, and sales and marketing at IBM, David moved into the independent business sector in the mid eighties. He joined a small software organisation as its Sales Director and proceeded to guide the company through rapid growth. Since then David has operated at Board level at various technology companies ranging from small start-ups to a larger mid-market plc. Most of that time he operated as either Chairman or Chief Executive of the organisation.

Over the years David has gained a reputation for leading teams through significant challenges and change, and his companies have been recognised within the industry for the strength of their Quality systems and outstanding customer service.

Most recently David was CEO of an IT company that grew to be the UK leader in Information Management Systems. He transformed the company from a product dominated organisation to one renowned for its consultancy and service.

David became Chief Executive of Skyguard in March 2008.

Following a career in the army, Patrick has spent the last 18 years in the security industry. Latterly he was Sales and Marketing Director of the Corps, instrumental in moving turnover from £12m to £55m and establishing new ventures in Malaysia, Pacific Rim and a remote CCTV monitoring centre in the UK.

Following a period as a security consultant, Patrick joined Skyguard Technologies Ltd in 2003 as Sales & Marketing Director where he set up innovative sales, marketing and operational strategies with the aim of establishing a good pipeline of potential business to achieve sales targets. Work includes developing PR and marketing plans as well as trials programmes with potential customers in key market sectors. He also carries out speaking engagements on the subject of 'Protecting your lone workers', has written a number of articles and been interviewed for major daily newspapers, magazines and live radio.

Patrick has recently completed the draft of a new British Standard for Lone Workers.

He is also:

  • Chairman of the British Standards Institute committee that sets standards for UK manned security services
  • Chairman of the British Standards Institute committee developing a lone worker standard
  • Member of an international group developing European security standards
  • Founder and member of the Lone Worker Steering Group, which aimed to set the standards for the protection of lone workers
  • Member of the London Chamber of Commerce Defence & Security Committee
  • Member of the Company of Security Professionals.

Charles has extensive experience within the IT and related high technology industries and over the last 20 years has led and implemented many major business improvement initiatives. In addition he has been Director of Business Development for two internationally recognised management consulting organisations.

Charles has held positions as Managing Director of publicly quoted companies in the US, UK and Continental Europe; Atlantic Compcap, Hamilton Rentals Plc, Summit Holdings Plc, MPL Power Systems Plc, Atlantic Finanz AG, Zurich and Soricon Corporation (a start up in the US that was floated on NASDAQ).

In addition, Charles has been Director of Business Development for two internationally recognised Management Consulting organisations. He is also able to draw upon extensive sales and marketing experience at both strategic and operational levels, gained across both existing and emerging markets.

Charles has been involved in the security industry for over nine years including being Operations Director of Reliance Security Services.

He has been a board member of Skyguard since late 2003.

Lord DearUntil his retirement in 1997, Lord Dear Kt QPM DL LLB was "one of the best known, and most respected, police officers of his generation" (Quote - Sir Robin Day).

He served in Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire ( and West Midlands ) Forces, the Staff College, and the Metropolitan Police before becoming Chief Constable of the West Midlands in 1985. He was HM Inspector of Constabulary from 1990-97.

He was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Bravery 1979, the Queen's Police Medal for Distinguished Service 1981, was invested Knight Bachelor in 1997, and granted a Peerage in 2006.

He is currently Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire, and has had a variety of Board level appointments both as Chairman and Non-executive Director. These include Reliance Security Services Ltd, and Reliance Secure Task Management Ltd. Lord Dear has also served on several Home Office Committees and Working Parties.

Lord Dear has been involved with Skyguard Technologies Ltd since 2002.

James has extensive experience in online retailing and is currently a director of several high-technology companies. He is Managing Director of Barshield Services Ltd, a mail order company which runs four online brands specialising in selling Digital Memory and PC consumables online.

He is also a director of Wires2wireless Ltd which trades under the name of Send4help.com, the exclusive online reseller of the Skyguard service to consumers.

James has been a Non-executive Director of Skyguard Technologies Ltd since 2006.

From 1993 Patrick Terry directed the development and field testing of the original Skyguard Risk and Resource Management system. This was based on the analogue cellular system in use at the time. Patrick went on to build the first GSM/GPS based prototype and was technical director of the company that developed the eGuard vehicle tracking product, which was the most successful of its type. Patrick represented the industry on the WG 14 Committee, defining the EU processes and standards for the After-Theft market.

He is a director of the Mobile Electronics and Security Federation (MESF), specialist installers of electronic and vehicle security products and is involved with the GPRS developer's forum.

Over a number of years Patrick has worked closely with the Home Office, Customs & Excise, as well as UK and EU (and beyond - FBI and RCMP) Police Forces.

Patrick is well known to many of the larger potential customers, suppliers and competitors in the industry and has an in-depth knowledge of the GSM worldwide networks and mapping. He has tested GPS/GSM tracking systems across Europe and in most countries in the Far East. He has also worked with GPS tracking systems, using radio, including a system developed for the Indonesian Army.
