Case Study – Community Gateway Housing Association

Community Gateway Association - working aloneCommunity Gateway Association (CGA) specialises in providing high quality homes for people in need while creating friendly communities. CGA takes responsibility for their staff very seriously and recognises that many of them can find themselves working alone or in difficult situations from time to time. This includes rent recovery officers, mobile wardens, community caretakers, key holders attending alarm activations, resident liaison officers, and facilities and IT staff working out of hours.

Having recognised the need for lone worker protection for their frontline staff, Community Gateway was spurred into action following an incident in 2006 concerning a Lifeline Manager. Returning to her car, she came across a man firing one of two guns and following eye contact with him she feared for her life. She appreciated that using a mobile phone to call for help may have escalated the situation.

Skyguard was introduced for its complete end-to-end service and reassurance it gave to all frontline workers. The SG500 not only acts as a deterrent to potential difficulties but also ‘provides tremendous peace of mind for us all’ says Diane Bellinger.
Skyguard ... it's given the staff, particularly people like myself who are loneworkers, reassurance – and peace of mind when we are actually out in the community
