Case Study – The National Trust

National Trust - lone workingIn 2007 the National Trust launched their Health & Safety Guidance Note on Lone Working which is applicable to all lone working staff and volunteers within the Trust. It identified 28 different lone working scenarios, such as house staff alone in the property at night, staff travelling alone by car or on public transport, and those working in more extreme conditions outdoors. In addition it offers advice on taking the appropriate precautions.

The launch of the Guidance Note accompanied a new training course and the introduction of a lone worker alarm and tracking device developed and produced by Skyguard.

Tailored for the Trust

Some months ago Neil McCollin, who is a Warden on the Carneddau Estate in Snowdonia, was asked by the Health & Safety Department to trial the effectiveness of the Skyguard Service under National Trust operational conditions. In fact, Neil's experiences and comments required Skyguard to enhance its operation to meet the specific needs of the Trust.
