Personal Safety Alarms

Our range of personal safety devices feature state of the art GPS and mobile phone technology. Each device conforms the requirements of BS8484:2009 Section 5: the code of practice for the provision of lone worker devices. Our GEMshield personal safety alarm is also accredited with ACPO’s coveted ‘Secured by Design’ certification.

  • One Button Alarm Activation: Upon pressing the ‘SOS’ alarm button, the device enables us to determine who has raised the alarm, where they are on an on-screen map and all relevant contact and emergency escalation procedures.

  • Accurate GPS: Means we can locate the device wherever they are.

  • 2-Way Communication: Each device features 2-way audio functionality. We listen in to what is happening and if it's safe to do so, talk to and reassure you until the help we summon, arrives. Of course, if it is not safe to talk, there's no need to say a word! We'll send assistance, if appropriate.

  • Speed Dial: Devices allow you to call up to three contact telephone numbers of your choice, initiating a two-way voice call – just like a telephone conversation.

  • Voice Memo: Allows you to leave a message giving additional information that could be useful in an emergency. E.g. where you are going and who you are meeting. This information will be available to our controllers in the event of an emergency alarm activation.

  • Man-Down: Our GEMshield device features ‘Man-Down’ – a sensor which detects a trip, slip, fall or heavy impact and sends an alarm to our Incident Management Centre. Vital for incidents where the user is unable to call for help.

  • Position Reports and Requests: Records the user’s location automatically or manually at the press of a button. The location can be viewed instantly on an online map at our secure Customer Service Centre. Our MYSOS device allows you to request the position of the user at any time by sending the device an SMS text message.

  • Audio Recording: All incidents audio is recorded and logged, providing the Police with evidence should the incident result in litigation.

  • Skyguard on your Mobile / BlackBerry: We also offer our service on any mobile phone and BlackBerry device that’s easy to install, providing Skyguard’s service without the need to carry a dedicated device.

Incident Management Centre

Our lone worker devices link in to our UK-based Incident Management Centre (IMC), which is fully staffed round-the-clock to provide complete cover. Purpose-built for dealing only with Skyguard’s alarms, it is accredited to BS8484 and BS5979 (Category II). Our IMC features:

  • Experienced Professionals: Our dedicated staff have been carefully selected, trained and constantly retrained using specialist tuition methods, to calmly and professionally deal with a wide range of stressful and/or violent situations involving people (not intruder alarms, vehicle tracking or CCTV).

  • Direct Access to the Emergency Services: We have direct access to the Police (bypassing the 999 system) which allow faster response times. And because we know who you are and where you are, there’s no time wasted… response is quick!

  • Bespoke Software: A unique knowledge centre that collates and evaluates information from customers, actual incidents, and the personal safety industry. This feeds data back into our service development to augment our controller training, software and service development. This process serves to further enhance the safety of our customers, and their employees.

Customer Service Centre (CSC)

Our Customer Service Centre (CSC) is an online portal which you can access 24/7 from any internet-enabled computer. The CSC enables you to update any relevant information about the device’s users in real-time.

  • Flexibility: You can transfer devices between users at any time, with no extra cost, allowing you to transfer devices between employees or those in your care.

  • Account: Keep all of your device users in one location, with handy reports on real-time and historical information such as alarm activations, position reports and personal details (such as descriptions, photos and medical history).

  • Position Reporting: Our CSC features a detailed map of all of your user’s locations, updated in real-time, allowing you to easily locate your lone workers, employees or those in your care at any time.

National Response Service

Our 1000+ strong National Response Service fleet is an integral part of the Skyguard Service and provides an alternative emergency response should the emergency services be unable to attend an incident, an emergency service is not appropriate, or for any non-emergency response that employees may require.

Our National Response Service staff are trained in resolving conflict and defusing explosive situations. They are trained to British Standard BS7984 for response services, SIA (Security Industry Authority) licensed, which includes being checked against the Police National Computer and fully security screened to BS7858.
